火狐浏览器 Firefox 121 版本将尝试默认启用 Wayland 显示协议

11 月 14 日消息，Wayland 是 Linux 发行版的替代窗口系统，取代了老化的 X11 标准。不过由于应用兼容问题，Wayland 一直没有得到很好的推进。

而最新信息显示，火狐浏览器 Firefox 121 版本将尝试默认启用 Wayland 显示协议。用于“发布 Wayland 后端”的 Mozilla Bug 1752398 已关闭，经过两年的开放，目前已准备好为 Firefox 121 提供支持。

该补丁删除了“早期测试版或更早版本”检查，以便在最新 GTK 版本上运行时默认启用 Wayland 支持。Firefox 121 将于 12 月 19 日左右发布，预计将默认启用 Wayland 后端。

随着 KDE Plasma 6.0 默认使用 Wayland、XWayland rootful 模式的改进，以及（X）Wayland 的其他进展，Wayland 有望于 2024 年迎来在 Linux 桌面领域的广泛采用。
